Priscilla and Jeff Dickinson
The opportunity for Jeff to design the entire campus from the west wing to the community hall was an incredible opportunity to apply the concepts of sustainable design, which meshed so well with the concepts of anthroposophical design. Together they were the perfect solution to creating the best possible spaces for children. The WSRF board of trustees, by making the decision to go the route of sustainability, will have a positive impact on the lives of children for many years to come. Jeff says the Europeans set their building standards on the needs of young children who are those most likely to be affected by the materials and design of the buildings. WSRF made the right decision to hold this belief paramount.
One of Priscilla's most memorable experiences at WSRF was the building of the community hall. Through many hours of meetings on a weekly basis, each decision was reached by the building committee in a consensus manner which often was not easy but, with perseverance, was achieved. Everything from the research that was done by the various individuals to the ability to sit and listen to each other's ideas and opinions was fruit for the manifestation of something greater than themselves.
The culmination of many years of effort was brought to a head when we watched our daughter, Sadie, perform for the first time on the stage of the new community hall. It will be a moment that will be cherished forever. |
