I felt the model we were forming with the mentoring support team and the community council was really healthy if we could just get healthy within it. To me the two organs felt like the two arms of a college of teachers, the traditional leadership in Waldorf schools. To have the mentoring support team focusing solely on the pedagogy and the community council taking more of an administrative role was exciting.
The community council was a great group of dedicated parents and teachers who threw themselves into the school. Further, they took the time to understand a bit about anthroposophy and what needed to be done to help the school grow into a true Waldorf school. They did this without feeling they needed to control the pedagogy and I really think the present structure is the healthiest I've seen in a Waldorf school.
